Staff Training
Staff Training
Care In Your Home Ltd places the highest importance on staff training.
We believe that well-trained carers are essential to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Much of our training is delivered through the Care Skills Academy, and we also provide in-house training, including Manual Handling and Medication courses, led by our trained supervisors.
Mandatory Training
Before starting their journey in care, all staff must complete a range of mandatory training courses. Most of these are refreshed annually to ensure skills and knowledge remain up to date. These include:
Understanding Your Role
Communication
Duty of Care
Equality and Diversity
Fire Safety
Food Hygiene
First Aid
Health & Safety
Infection Control
Moving & Handling (Theory)
Medication Training
Mental Capacity Act & DOLS
Person-Centred Care
Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
Behaviours That Challenge
Dementia Awareness
GDPR Stage 1
Induction: Autism
Pressure Area Care
Lone Working
Catheter Care
Additional training for clients’ specific needs is arranged as required, using qualified external providers.
Care Certificate
All staff are required to complete the Care Certificate during their three-month probationary period. They must successfully pass all 15 standards of the certificate—delivered via the Care Skills Academy—before progressing beyond probation.
Ongoing Development
Once staff have completed their probation and settled into their roles, we encourage further development. This includes pursuing formal qualifications such as the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) in Health & Social Care.
Our supervisors have all achieved QCF Level 4 in Health & Social Care—equivalent to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or the first year of a Bachelor's degree. They have also completed Train the Trainer qualifications, enabling them to deliver high-quality internal training and maintain the standards of care we promise to our valued clients.
